Thursday 9th April – Sunday 12th April 2020
It is with great sadness that the decision has been made to cancel the Holy Week Retreat 2020 in light of the current Covid-19 outbreak.
This decision hasn’t been easy to make but the health and safety of the Stonyhurst community is of the utmost importance to us at this time. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
A full refund will be arranged for each retreatant. We would be grateful if those who have paid by bank transfer or cheque send us their sort code and account number by email so that we can process the refund. Alternatively, anyone who followed a Worldpay link or who paid over the phone by card will be refunded automatically and no extra information is needed.
The following communication sent to all retreatants can be read here:
Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
With best wishes,
The Holy Week Retreat is organised by the College on an annual basis, welcoming visitors to the College from across the Stonyhurst community.
The Retreat begins on Maundy Thursday and provides full board accommodation through to Easter Sunday, making it possible for entire families, including babies and small children, to attend. It is an excellent opportunity for the whole family to meet and share their faith with relatives and friends.
The theme for this year’s Retreat is Living out Laudato Si and the talks and reflections that take place during the weekend, will explore topics relating to this.
The adult programme has been developed to include a number of notable guest speakers, as well as opportunities for group discussion, reflection and meditation. All retreatants will be given the opportunity to attend the workshops and speakers of their choice throughout the weekend, as well as receive Spiritual Direction, should they wish to do so.
The full programme of events, including Masses and meal times will be featured on the website in due course.
The Retreat caters for all ages and further to the adult programme will be a children’s programme for young people aged 5-16 years of age, offering provision so that parents have the opportunity to attend their chosen talks and discussion groups.
There will also be the opportunity to visit the Old Chapel Museum during your visit.
For many people the Retreat provides both a holiday and a valuable Holy Week experience. There is the sense of doing something very spiritual, whilst also enjoying a relaxing few days.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
(2 Corinthians 5:17)
