With our 2019 Literature and Film Festival fast approaching on Friday 16th & Saturday 17th August, we thought we would introduce some of our brilliant authors and speakers who will be delivering exclusive talks, lectures and Q&A’s at the event the event.

Debbie Horsfield

Manchester-born Debbie Horsfield has found success as an author, writer and producer. She is best known for producing BBC classics such as Poldark, Cutting It, and The Riff Raff Element.

Horsfield has won numerous awards for her contributions to theatre and television, including The Thames TV Writer’s Award, Two BAFTA Nominations, and one National TV Award Nomination.

Debbie’s incredible accomplishments have established her as one of the most in-demand writers and producers of 2019. She will be speaking at the festival on Saturday 17th August.

Simon Callow CBE

Simon Callow has published 12 books and is a best selling author as well being an accomplished actor and director. Callow is perhaps most known for his role alongside Hugh Grant in Four Weddings and a Funeral, but has made many notable contributions to the world of cinema, such as the critically acclaimed 1985 film A Room With a View.

The Shakespearean actor has been nominated for numerous BAFTA Awards and has won the Screen Actors Guild Award in 1998 when starring in Shakespeare in Love. He has also starred in numerous television shows including Outlander and The Rebel, as well as directing Shirley Valentine on Broadway.

Simon Callow will be talking about his amazing career at 1pm on Saturday 17th August.

Jenn Ashworth

Jenn Ashworth is a published author, whose novels are inspired by the unique heritage of her home county of Lancashire.

Her first novel, A Kind of Intimacy, saw her win the coveted Betty Trask Award. Ashworth has also published many short stories including Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others and Katy, My Sister. She has more recently published the writing and art collective, Curious Tales, in 2013.

Jenn will be discussing her Lancashire inspiration at 4pm on Friday 16th August.
